Gas Optics GVS® technology is a unique technology for detection of gas leakages on installations such as onshore gas processing plants, offshore producing platforms and LNG ships and terminals. GVS® consist of three cameras (two IR and one visual), that automatically will detect and image gas leakages and flames in colors to computer screens on remote control rooms.
It also monitors and logs equipment and surrounding temperatures that can be used for identifying and trending hot and cold spots for early maintenance planning. These multifunctional capabilities make GVS® a powerful tool for O&G operators to increase production regularity and safety in a reliable and cost-saving manner.

The patented technology is built on gas correlation, which is proven to be the most sensitive and reliable way to recognize gases. It has through live testing reached Technology Readiness Level 6 by Statoil.
Two IR-images, one with all methane information removed (if gas cell is filled with methane) are compared to produce visualization of a methane plume. An optical image is superimposed and gives a visual gas leak image.
